Can my dogs diet affect their behaviour?

Updated: Jul 26, 2022

We all know our guts are our second brain. If a human has gut issues this can affect their skin, hormones, mood and energy levels causing fatigue, irritation and dry or itchy skin.

Guess what? The same goes for our dogs.

Most Vets nowadays are beginning to see how highly processed kibble can be causing the huge rise in Skin and Gut issues in our Dogs. A study taken in Seoul, South Koreans indicated that 15% of all Dogs suffer from Skin issues/allergies to foods.

This is why more and more Integrative Vets are going back to study Nutrition and advise their Patients to feed their dogs Fresh, Raw Food instead of highly processed dry or wet kibble.

A book I highly recommend reading if you'd like to know more about Raw Feeding your Dog is Raw Food for Cats and Dogs by Dr Clare Middle.

So can our Dogs Diet affect their behaviour?

Absolutely, if their gut health isn't great neither is their hormones, mood or energy levels, in turn causing them to be more irritable and anxious.

This is where I love to help anxious/ fearful and stressed dogs heal all areas of their life holistically and cover every avenue- I focus on their diet, environment, any stress or changes in their life, past traumas (this is common in Rescue Dogs) and of course how to help them release this naturally using calming remedies and energy work with both the dog and their owner.

If you'd like to know more you can book a Free 15 minute Discovery Call to find out how I can best support you and your dog and most importantly see if we're a good fit to work together.

Until then speak with a trusted vet about your Dogs Diet and if this may be affecting their behaviour.
